🪓 Scytheling the Little Reaper

*the smaller Death pictured *

Apprentice of Endings • Collector of Loose Threads

Every great gonk of mystery needs a helper, and Grimstitch found his in the form of Scytheling — a pint-sized cotton gonk with a crooked hat, stubby beard, and a scythe far too big for him (which he drags around with great determination and much tripping).

Scytheling takes his job very seriously, though the rest of the Coven mostly chuckle when he sternly announces he’s “come for your yarn scraps.” He practices looking ominous in the mirror, but his fluffy beard keeps twitching, ruining the effect. Still, what he lacks in menace, he makes up for in enthusiasm.

His role is simple: Scytheling follows Grimstitch around, gathering up loose threads, dropped stitches, and unfinished projects, carrying them off on his little scythe to who-knows-where. Some say he gives them back to the universe, others say he just hoards them under his hat.

Despite his tiny size, Scytheling is fiercely loyal — always at Grimstitch’s heel, always ready to announce “THE END IS NEAR!” before promptly falling over. The Coven adore him, partly because he’s helpful… mostly because he’s hilarious.

Adopting Scytheling means adopting a little piece of gothic comedy — a reminder that even in the spookiest tales, there’s always room for laughter.
